West Ham are against radical Big Picture plans

West Ham are against radical plans by Liverpool and Manchester United to reform the English football pyramid, according to a club source.
The Project Big Picture proposals have been put together by Liverpool owner John Henry and United co-chairman Joel Glazer.
Everton, Southampton and West Ham would be granted special status in the plans, along with the so-called 'big six'.
However, a Hammers insider has told BBC Sport they are "very much against" it.
It is understood the club were unaware of the proposals, even though they were named in them - and were shocked when they emerged into the public domain on Sunday.
The source said they were of the view Liverpool and United were the instigators but that they had been told talks have been going on since January and what has emerged is the 17th version of the proposal.
The plans also include special status for Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham.
A spokesman for Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday the plans would "undermine the trust in football's governance".
"In terms of support for clubs we have been given assurances by the Premier League and English Football League that they have no intention to let any EFL club go bust due to covid and we know they have the means to prevent that from happening within existing mechanisms.
"We strongly urge the Premier League and EFL to continue to work constructively to come up with a package of support for the whole football family."

Lee, a lot of club owners are in cloud cuckoo land, come up with ideas discuss it amongst themselves then when presented to the group of people who actually run the club on a daily basis get told what a f**king stupid idea it is and to go back to sleep hence why Liverpool and Man U voted against it.

Premier League clubs have "unanimously agreed" that 'Project Big Picture' will not be "endorsed or pursued".

Sky are pissing me off with this - concentrating on the money to the EFL and even talking like its the big six being generous when in reality all Prem teams will be paying for it whilst also freeing up time for the big six to be earning even more money from lucrative friendlies.
Liverpool and Man Utd should be hauled over the coals for this.

As much as I'd like to tell UEFA and FIFA to do one, I'm not sure I'd like to see Man Utd and Liverpool take over from them.
Am I right in thinking that the FA could banish them from the Champions League as a punishment? It won't happen, but I'd call their bluff and threaten that against them.

Not sure why the 14 non big six clubs don't have their own meetings without the big six and try and vote through some changes to level the playing field a bit.
Agree to the rescue package with a percentage coming from Champions League earnings and the rest from the TV money.
TV money then is evenly distributed amongst all 20 clubs rather than on league positions.
Reduce the 14 majority to 12 so the smaller clubs will always be able to outvote the big 6 if the league does reduce to 18 at some point.

Texas, it frees up more time for more Champions League/Super League games. Same reason the proposal covers the abolition of the League Cup.

What are the alleged benefits of 18 vs 20 Prem slots...???
The benefits of getting rid of 4 games a season plus league cup and community shield is that it allows the big teams to play more matches in Champions League which is going to be expanded shortly (2 years' time I think it is?). There is no benefit to anyone who doesn't regularly qualify for the Champions League, it makes every other club in the Premier League poorer and with no power to keep the rules from changing further for the benefit of the biggest clubs

Football will be much much better if they fucked off. Sure the best of the best players would be constantly moved up to the super league but we would literally start each season with pretty much every side having a reasonable chance of winning the league.
